Crew visas and CIQ in Vietnam: what operators should prepare

· 2 min read · Stellar Aero

Getting crew and passengers through customs, immigration and quarantine (CIQ) smoothly is as much a part of the trip as the flight itself. Requirements in Vietnam depend on nationality, length of stay and whether crew leave the airport.

Visas for crew and passengers

  • E-visa. Vietnam issues electronic visas to citizens of all countries, valid for up to 90 days with single or multiple entry. Applications are made online in advance.
  • Visa exemptions. Citizens of ASEAN countries and a number of other nationalities can enter without a visa for a limited stay. The list and duration change, so check each passport.
  • Crew staying overnight. Crew who leave the airport to rest at a hotel may need a visa or a specific entry arrangement depending on nationality. Confirm before departure.

Documents to prepare

  • Passports valid for at least six months, with blank pages
  • General declaration listing all crew and passengers
  • Passenger manifest and any visa approvals
  • Customs declarations for restricted items, currency above the declarable limit and high-value goods

Making arrival quick

  • Send passenger details early so formalities can be prepared before landing.
  • Book a VIP lounge or fast track at major airports to avoid public queues.
  • Brief passengers on items that must be declared, such as drones, medicines and large amounts of cash.
Entry rules change frequently. We check the current requirements for every crew member and passenger on each trip.

Our crew and passenger logistics and VIP terminal teams prepare visas, hotels, transport and fast-track formalities around your schedule.
